Returning to Work

No matter how long you have been away from the health sector, your previous clinical training and experience makes it easier to return to your previous career in health.

Each registration board has its own system for re-registering health care professionals. For example, if you have not been practicing as a nurse for an extended period of time you will need to apply to the New Zealand Nursing Council who may determine that you need to complete a Competency Assessment Programme and/or a supervised period of clinical practice to be eligible for re-registration.

To find out about returning to practice in your choose profession in the New Zealand health sector you will first need to contact your registration board who will determine what conditions you will need to fulfil before being able to return to practice.
