Your appointment
If you are unable to attend your outpatient appointment, please contact the specialty administrator on the phone number provided on your appointment letter urgently. This will allow the vacant appointment slot to be given to another patient and a new appointment given to you.

It’s important to note that appointments that are not cancelled cost Whanganui Hospital valuable health dollars and contribute to increased waiting list timeframes.

For those with mobile phones, the WDHB sends out a text message to remind you of your outpatient appointment the day prior to your appointment.

It is important that patients inform the hospital when they move house or change their phone details to enable the current information to be entered into our computer system.

It may be necessary for us to change your appointment at short notice. Should this happen, we will re-book you on the next available date. If your condition changes, you should contact your GP for advice.

If you fail to attend your appointment and you have not contacted us to reschedule, the referral may be discharged. If this happens it will be necessary to arrange another referral from your GP in order to receive a further appointment.

If you require a wheelchair and/or orderly, please ask for one at the enquiry desk at the hospital's main entrance.
