Applications open for the 2015 Whanganui Health and Disability Quality Awards

31 March 2015
Applications for the 2015 Whanganui Health and Disability Quality Awards open today, Tuesday 31 March, amid high hopes that a change to the format will see a significant increase in entry numbers.
Organising committee chairperson Lucy Dunlop says the decision to hold the awards every two years rather than annually is a nod to organisations needing a lot of lead-in time to prepare for the awards which include nine categories and one supreme award.
In addition to making the event bi-annual, the committee has brought it forward from October to 11 June, 5.30pm at the Wanganui Racecourse, and changed the format from dinner to drinks and nibbles, followed by a light supper when the awards ceremony concludes.
Entries are open to all health and/or disability service providers or individuals working to benefit the health and wellbeing of people within the Whanganui District Health Board region. Application packs are available to interested groups at
“We encourage people in the health sector within our region to consider how they are improving the quality of what they are doing and enter the awards,” Mrs Dunlop says.
“It is such a vital part of supporting our health services, but something that sometimes goes unnoticed. I would love to see a number of deserving nominations put forward this year.”
Applications for this year’s quality awards close on 27 April 2015. Mrs Dunlop says she’s confident applicants will find the process easier this year. The organising committee has simplified the criteria in recognition that health sector staff are extremely busy.
