Message from WDHB chair Kate Joblin

29 November 2013
It has been a great privilege to serve as chair of Whanganui District Health Board which I have watched go from strength to strength as our board, staff and community have addressed and overcome the many hurdles we had before us.
While I am disappointed not to be leading the board for the next term, I do leave the role confident that the WDHB has the strength and resilience to forge a very solid future for our health services.
I want to congratulate Dot McKinnon on her appointment and offer my support and good wishes. I am sure Dot’s strong commitment to Whanganui will auger well for our board and community.
Thanks to the confidence Whanganui residents showed in me at the recent election I am delighted that I will continue to serve as a board member. And I am equally delighted that the Minister has reappointed me as MidCentral deputy chair. It is through this role that I will continue to contribute to MidCentral and Whanganui’s efforts to strengthen our regional health services.
I want to take this opportunity to pay tribute to WDHB chief executive Julie Patterson and her leadership team whose dedication and drive to continually improve Whanganui’s health service are quite outstanding.
I feel immense pride in Julie, our staff, the board and the services we provide to our community. I thank everyone involved for their hard work and dedication and I thank my family, friends and colleagues for the wonderful support they have given me during the past eight years.
