WDHB opens new breastfeeding room

27 September 2013
A new room dedicated to breastfeeding mums and their babies is ‘open for business’ in Wanganui Hospital.
Located in the corridor behind the main entrance cafeteria, the room has been set up for Whanganui District Health Board (WDHB) staff and members of the public wanting a private room in which they can breastfeed their babies.
With funding from the Healthy Eating, Healthy Action (HEHA) strategy established by the Ministry of Health, the room has been furnished with a sofa, tri-pillows, a babies’ change table, a fridge and table and chairs to make it comfortable and practical for mothers.
Mothers wanting to use the room can ask for a key at the main entrance reception desk. There is no time limit on how long a woman can use the room.
For further information please call WDHB health promoter Awhi Turvey at the Public Health Centre on 06 348 1775.
