Whanganui Hospital’s first Pink Ribbon breakfast fundraiser has been hailed a resounding success by organisers Lisa Sullivan and Karen Wright.
In little under an hour a total of $1200 was raised for the Cancer Society’s breast cancer research – a result which Lisa is “over the moon with”.
“The support we had was amazing,” Lisa says. “Besides those who offered to bake for us, we were delighted with the number who attended and pleased that for practical reasons, we offered a morning tea rather than breakfast.
“We all know someone who has had breast cancer so it’s a cause very close to people’s hearts. To bring friends and colleagues together in this way is lovely.”
It was a particularly poignant occasion for Lisa whose brother Paul Kirk who died suddenly in August last year. Paul was well known for his tireless fundraising for Child Cancer.
Lisa and Karen thank their sponsors Spotless, Stevo’s Distributors (Savouries), Harrison Hire Master, Fitzies Bakery (Cakes) and Cherry Cottage Cupcakes.
