WDHB to celebrate International Nurses Day 2014 with quiz night

7 May 2014
The Whanganui District Health Board (WDHB) is hoping large numbers of nurses will brave our cooler nights  to join their colleagues for the Great Quiz Night on 15 May.
The quiz is being held to bring nurses together to celebrate International Nurses Day which, perhaps not surprisingly, falls on Florence Nightingale’s birthday - 12 May.
The venue for this year’s event is the Cooks Gardens Function Centre (accessed via the pedestrian crossing opposite Briscoes in St Hill St) where teams of six nurses, from a variety of nursing disciplines and organisations, will answer questions centred on all things nursing. Start time will be 7pm sharp.
Entry is free but nurses who might wish to make a donation are invited to put a ‘little something’ towards some activity boxes for WDHB patients who are cognitively impaired.
Because seating is limited, individuals or teams wanting to enter are asked to contact WDHB executive assistant Deborah Mansor (deborah.mansor@wdhb.org.nz) as soon as possible.
Nurses are also invited to enter a poster competition to showcase their work and be in with a chance to win a morning tea shout.
This year’s guest speaker is yet to be confirmed but WDHB director of nursing Sandy Blake says he or she will someone able to give a unique or interesting perspective on nursing.
