WDHB welcomes new doctors
back

The Whanganui District Health Board (WDHB) is delighted to have a full complement of junior doctors who’ve recently arrived from as far away as the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and India to join Wanganui Hospital.

Resident medical officers (RMOs) recruitment administrator Lisa Flood says while some have come to Whanganui after hearing glowing reports from last year's RMO intake, for others it’s Whanganui’s lifestyle that’s the big attraction.

"Whanganui’s close proximity to Mt Ruapehu, the sea and larger nearby cosmopolitan cities is a big drawcard,” Ms Flood says.

“The new recruits say they are settling well into our Kiwi/Whanganui lifestyle which includes participating in waka ama, rowing, dancing, flying and tramping.

“It’s encouraging to see Wanganui Hospital and the Whanganui region attracting so many overseas doctors. We hope this continues.”
