Immigration
To work at Te Whatu Ora Whanganui you must have evidence that your immigration status allows you to work in New Zealand.
If you are not a New Zealand citizen, Australian citizen or permanent resident, you will need a work permit to allow you to live and work in New Zealand for a restricted length of time. In most cases, you will need to obtain New Zealand Registration before applying for a work permit/visa.
If you want to live and work in New Zealand permanently, there are a number of options available:
Skilled Migrant category
The ‘Skilled Migrant’ category is for employees who have the skills, qualifications and experience required. It is specifically aimed at people who want to live and work permanently in New Zealand.
Work to Residence category
The ‘Work to Residence’ category allows you to get a temporary work visa and/or permit as a step towards gaining permanent residence. Applicants may be qualified in occupations that are in demand in New Zealand.
Residence from Work
The ‘Residence from Work’ category is for people who are already in New Zealand on a 'Work to Residence' permit, and want to apply for residence'

Receiving an income and paying tax in New Zealand
To receive income from employment (either salary or wages) in New Zealand you must have an IRD number.
You cannot apply for an IRD number until you are physically in New Zealand, have obtained registration with your respective professional body and obtained a New Zealand immigration status to work in New Zealand.
To apply for an IRD number, you will need to fill in an IRD number application - individual (IR595) form and follow the instructions on the form. The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) will normally send you your IRD number within 8-10 working days of receiving your completed application form.
