There are hundreds of careers in the health sector. Not only are there the obvious roles like being a nurse, dentist or doctor but there are other jobs such as a dietician, ambulance officer, counsellor or non-clinical roles.
To get the career you want after finishing school, you should start thinking about the subjects you are studying now and where they will take you. If you aren't in school or have been working for a while, you can still get into a career in the health sector. Some roles offer on-the-job training and others require study.
Workforce development and strong organisational health are key priorities for Te Whatu Ora Whanganui and, as such, drives activities associated with shaping and improving the quality of knowledge and skills of our current and future workforce.
See the links below for information about what we are doing to develop the current, and future, health workforce and why you should consider a career in health.
