Assessment, Treatment and Rehabilitation (AT&R) Unit — South Canterbury
The AT&R Unit provides coordinated, multi-disciplinary, customised care to meet the complex needs of people with age-related disorders. The goal is to restore functional ability, to enable people to live as independently as possible. The unit has 17 beds — patients usually stay 11 to 14 days.
The goal of the AT&R Unit is to restore people's functional ability and enable them to live as independently as possible by:
optimising health through individualised assessment and targeted treatments
maintaining independence through rehabilitation interventions and referrals to appropriate support services
providing encouragement and support for reaching these goals.
In the community, the Needs Assessment Service assesses the needs of people who struggle with daily activities because of age, a health condition or disability.
