Services we provide
Our speech-language therapists work with people aged 16 and older, their whānau and healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose and treat:
- speech disorders (dysarthria and dyspraxia) — articulation, fluency, and motor disorders
- voice disorders (dysphonia) — quality, volume, pitch and resonance
- language disorders (aphasia) — comprehension and oral and written expression
- swallowing disorders (dysphagia) — saliva management, chewing and swallowing
- cognitive aspects of communication — attention, memory and problem solving.
Referral information
Referrals for speech-language therapy are made by:
- healthcare providers such as GPs
- hospital specialists
- private healthcare specialists
- rest home staff.
